The town of Sandanski - one of the most beautiful in Bulgaria, is situated in southwestern Bulgaria at an altitude of 240 above sea level, close to the feet of the mountain Pirin, on both banks of the river Sandanska Bistritsa, flowing down from the mountain. It is located near the international route E79 Sofia-Athens some 20 km to the north from the border with Greece (checkpoint Kulata), and some 160 km to the south from Sofia.

Sandanski has an unique climate. The air here is refreshing and curative, especially for those who suffer from asthma. It is proven, that in 75% of the asthma cases, spasms of the bronchi lessen or even disappear already after the first week of treatment. In some 50% of the cases asthma suffering fully disappears. Sandanski is also popular with it's wine production. On the outskirts there is a wine works, where one of the best Bulgarian sorts of wine is produced.
